one没有定冠词时是指一，加上定冠词后指一个或特定的那个人或物。
the other表示一个特指的“其它”对象。
既然是表示特指，那下面这个例子是正确的吗？
There are three kids in the room. One is Red, the other is Jerry. （×）
不正确，因为除了Tom外还有两个小孩，读者无从知晓其中的哪一个小孩叫Jerry，这里就不能用the other来特指。
下面这个例子就是正确的：
He has a book in one hand, and a pen in the other.
因为人只有两只手，就不会存在指向不明确的情况。
