I don’t get why the kings do this. Shump is doing fine for them, and he’s a nice vet presence for the young core there. Plus, fans like him. The only explanation is they want to get rid of his contract.

I’m not down for shump being traded like this personally, but getting a pick and Alec Burks actually makes sense from a basketball perspective. Burks is a really good rebounder for his position and is a better 3pt shooter and passer. It’s not a HUGE difference, but he’s a nice player. Getting a 2nd round pick in the deal is nice too because Shump was expiring after the year.
All that being said, I’m sad Shump is gone and idk if this was a big enough package to warrant losing our locker room leader.

Yeah you definitely have to give the man a lot of credit. I'd go as far as to say that he's one of the best locker room leaders in the league. He can be frustrating to watch offensively but his hard work and attitude is infectious.

Not bad. He's been playing SF which is tough on him, he's better at guarding smaller 3s and 2s than the big SFs in the west.
If he's guarding the right matchup and isn't outclassed in terms of length/weight then he's very good.
