I feel like a weighted average would be more useful here, if a team has a couple of 38-year-olds who don't play but is otherwise super young that should be reflected in the rankings.

With no evidence on hand to back up my claim I'd anecdotally say it is, for 2 reasons:

1) A team with players in their prime is more likely to be good than a team stuffed with rookie contract players, and

2) Most teams that go through rebuilding movements are afraid to sign too many veterans because they're trying to make space for their young guys. To be signing 30 or 35-year-old veteran free agents is usually a sign that you're already a pretty good team and that you're just looking for a few finishing touches to push you over the top. Those veterans then raise the average a lot.

1）相较而言，一支球员们处在巅峰的球队更可能比一支由一堆刚进联盟两三年，还拿着新秀合同的球员所组成的球队要出色。

2）大多数正在重建的球队都不敢签下太多老将，因为这些球队都在锻炼他们的年轻球员。通常，当球队实力已经很出色，只是在进行一些微调来使球队状态达到最好时，才会去自由市场和30-35多岁的老将签约。而这些老将会让球队的平均年龄上涨不少。

This chart is a really good illustration of Ainge's plan. The Cavs are amazing but unsustainable with how old and expensive they are. Few teams can beat them this season so the Celtics are building to be on top in a season or two.
