苏珊，一个农民的女儿，带着她的马儿---斯图尔特，去一个遥远的集市。斯图尔特的一只铁蹄松动了但是苏珊没有理会它。当斯图尔特的铁蹄最终掉落，她甚至还没有走到一半的路。
' 这里附近没有鞋匠，另外多一个钉子或者少一个钉子也并不会有什么区别', 苏珊想着。但是斯图尔特很快开始坡脚因为这空寂无人的路是有特别多石头的。
突然，一个窃贼出现了并抢走了苏珊所有的财物。斯图瓦特试图逃跑但是却不能。
” 我从没有想到到一个铁蹄能够损失我所有的钱与财产，’ 苏珊哭喊着。
她带着一匹坡脚的马回到了家里，悲伤但却明智。

SUSAN'S FOOLISHNESSSusan, a farmer's daughter, took her hourse, Stewart, to a faraway market. One of Stewart's shoes was loose but Susan ignored it. She had not even gone half way when Stewart's shoe finally fell off.
' There is no shoemaker nearby, besides one nail more or one nail less won't make any difference,' Susan thought. But Stewart was soon limping as the deserted road was very stony.
Suddenly, a thief appeared and robbed Susan of her possessions. Stewart tried to run but could't.
" I never imagined that one horseshoe could cost my money and possesstions," cried Susan.
She went home with a limping horse, sad but wise.
