The Bottle Cap Challenge has officially taken over the Internet. The viral trend, where people unscrew a bottle cap with a 360-degree kick, has spread all over social media over the past couple of weeks, so it only makes sense that a whole roster of celebrities would get involved.

The challenge has taken on many forms, with some participants using everything from cars, to jet skis (like Kendall Jenner), to their own voices (looking at you, Mariah Carey) to unscrewtheir respective bottles. The performances have only gotten more and more elaborate.

According to The New York Times, the social media stunt already existed within the martialarts community, but the momentum grew after Kazakh taekwondo fighter Farabi Davletchin posted his take on the trick on June 25. He then nominated people to continue the trend, including Jason Statham and Jackie Chan.

So, how exactly does this work?

It's not the first bottle-related challenge to go viral, but this time participants have to do more than just flip the bottle. The challenge is how to unscrew the cap with a roundhouse kick without knocking the bottle over. The trick, as you might have guessed, is to loosen the cap beforehand and have someone off- camera hold the bottle steady. Many people have posted their videos in slow motion, making the feat seem that much more Impressive.

The bottle-cap-kicking videos first circulated widely in mixed martial arts circles, but the origin of the challenge is unclear. It may have started with Farabi Davletchin, a Kazakh taekwondo champion, and some good-natured goading. On June 25, Mr. Davletchin posted a cap-kicking video on Instagram with the hashtag #farakickschallenge.

Mr. Hugh then challenged Max Holloway, an Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight champion. Mr. Holloway soon shared his own video, which racked up more than two million views in four days. He also challenged his friend John Mayer, the famous musician.

Anyone who has read to a class from a compelling story knows the power of it: stories cast a spell.” So, should schools around the world take a leaf out of Denmark’s book? It might well be something worth looking into.
