Show Your Work!（上）——如何当好一名“自媒体人”？

Show Your Work! 这书，近似一本“格言集”，其书名就是核心思想：互联网时代，创作者最该做的事就是勇敢展示自己的作品（特别是它的产生过程），然后，才可能有后续的一切：找到合作者（Scenius）、爱你所做之事、不怕做一个“业余者”，“鲁莽”、好奇、自由，最终用作品点亮自己。

这个时代的互联网自媒体人，需要明白自己最重要的任务就是被那群命中注定和你惺惺相惜的人所“看到”。那不是被动地、“跪”着地去迎合，而是主动地、真诚地释放信号，让“同道中人”围拢在你的周围，共同创造一方独属于你们的美好小天地。

我写这个公号，算是最低程度上的show my work, 于是偶然读到这本小书，颇为心喜。那是一种被他人准确道出心声的“知音感”。“为什么要写这个公号呢？”这书几乎能成为我的“半张嘴替”。另外，今年以来，几乎每天写作输出，如“微醺”般领略持续码字的纯粹快乐，也小小证明，这书说得不错。

书很薄，英语不错的话，推荐你亲自读。我调整顺序选出20句“格言”，谈谈我的感悟，如果你也是一个“自媒体人”，但愿有帮助。

今天先写前10句：

1.Be so good they can’t ignore you.

Share what you love, and the people who love the same things will find you.

再次强调：是去展示，不是迎合。

要让自己和自己的作品不断变得更好，好到他人无法忽视你。最近的例子：《非诚勿扰3》努力迎合这个时代，结果票房惨淡。《繁花》做自己，然后繁花灿烂。

2.Build sharing into your routine.

让分享成为你的日常。

不要憋什么“大招”。大家更感兴趣的，可能正是你的思考与创作过程。

“一鱼多吃”已经是非常成熟的创作手法：比如，如果你想写一本书，不妨把其中的核心观点和章节先放到网上，收集大家的反馈，边改边写。这样，写好每一章，网上有人读，串起来之后，也就成了你的书。

3.Imagine if your next boss didn’t have to read your resume because he already reads your blog. Imagine being a student and getting your first gig based on a school project you posted online. Imagine losing your job but having a social network of people familiar with your work and ready to help you find a new one. Imagine turning a side project or a hobby into your profession because you had a following that could support you.

其实只说了一件事：作品就是你最好的简历。

4.We live in an age where it’s easier than ever to join a scenius.

争做一个社群创作者。

创作，绝对不需要你首先是一个天才。

想起另一句话：“我们这个时代的核心竞争力，就是尽可能利用别人的东西，而不是自己做所有的事。”

5.Be an Amateur. That’s all any of us are: amateurs. We don’t live long enough to be anything else.

Amateur is the enthusiast who pursues her work in the pursues of love.

Amateurs know that contributing something is better than contributing nothing. The real gap is between doing nothing and doing something.

永远做一个“业余者”，永远不怕犯错与“丢脸”，永远对你所做的事充满好奇和爱。

因为，这世界变化得实在太快。

因此，谦卑心态，学习姿态，-ing状态。

6.Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything—all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure—these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked.

Thinking about death every morning makes me want to live.

“凡人皆有一死”，失无所失，更应向阳而生。

我犹爱这段的结尾：You have something to lose. You are already naked.

类似的一句话，我也反复实践，“在你什么都不是的时候，面子一文不值。”

7.Process is messy.

分享过程，但过程就代表着不完美、甚至一团糟。

糟就糟吧。

哈利.波特说过，最伟大的魔法师也和所有人一样，传奇开始于同一个身份：学生。

8.Overnight success is a myth.

Dig into almost every overnight success story and you’ll find about a decade’s worth of hard work and perseverance.

一夜成名，那是最骗人的鬼话。

你只是没看见别人的努力与坚持。

今年的跨年演讲上，罗老师说，“别人和你又不熟，凭什么和你说心里话？”也是同样道理。

9.90 percent of everything is crap. The same is true of our own work.

90%的任何东西，都是垃圾。你我的作品都是如此。

是垃圾就对了。

真正遗憾的，是因为怕创作出垃圾，而错过了人生。

李笑来老师说，“‘也许我不适合干这事儿’是所有失败者的墓志铭。”

“相信自己一定会有进步，只不过需要时间而已。”

如果你只想做完美的事，那只能在梦里做。

10.Don’t post things online that you’re not ready for everyone in the world to see.

Post as though everyone who can read it has the power to fire you.

发表你的作品，需要大心脏，更需要你的责任心。

每日分享，不是每日胡乱分享；不怕作品糟糕，不是分享糟糕作品。

我总结：每日的分享，都得是你当日的最佳水平——哪怕相对他人而言，你的作品还是“垃圾”，但这样的“垃圾”，不可耻，该自豪。

总之，你要为自己的作品负责。

让它为你赢得一个好名声。
