作者简介
恒慕义（Arthur William Hummel，1884年3月6日－1975年3月10日），山西汾州（今汾阳）铭义中学首任校长，美国公理会教士，著名汉学家，职业外交官，美国驻华大使恒安石的父亲。
1915年，恒慕义被公理会派到中国，在山西汾州（今汾阳）明义中学教英文。后在燕京大学历史系任教。
1928年，恒慕义回到华盛顿，任美国国会图书馆东方部首任主任。任职27年期间，中文藏书由100000册增至291000册，使之成为海外中国研究的重要基地。
1957年，与郭秉文创办中美文化协会（Sino-American Cultural Society），任首任主席。
书目:《超国家的国家主义》、《近百年来中国史学与古史辨》、《清代名人传略》(Eminent Chinese of the Ch'ing Period)上下 2 册。
