A: I still can’t believe it! Rose, the homecoming queen, was Jack’s date at the prom last night.

B: Jack is one for the books! Rose is one of the most beautiful girls in school. I thought for sure she would be going with Carl, the captain of the football team. Jack is such a bookworm. What does she see in him?

A: Evidently Carl was taking Rose for granted and assumed she would go to the prom with him without his even asking her. Jack wooed her with compliments and a book of love poems, so she agreed to go with him. When Carl found out, he hit the ceiling!

B: It just goes to show you that he who laughs last laughs best.

A: Who would have ever believed it? Carl always been so cocky.

B: Yes, but Jack really came out on top in this situation and won the lasting victory.
