On November 14, 2023, around 12:52 p.m., an explosion occurred at the limestone mining area in Longtou Township, Xiaohanxi Gaofengshan Mine of Guangxi Shengtian Shunxing Mining Co., Ltd. The explosion resulted in the tragic loss of three lives, damage to a pickup truck, and an estimated economic loss of approximately 4.2 million yuan.
The accident was attributed to improper communication and violation of safety protocols during the blasting operation. The blast technicians, Jiang Yongchun and Jiang Yongdong, were using WeChat to coordinate the operation. During the cautionary period, Jiang Yongchun mentioned in the WeChat group that their communication radios were out of power and inquired about the personnel in the rear mountain area. The safety officer responded in the group after verifying the completion of cautionary measures in the eastern section of the second-phase mountain area, indicating that the detonators were charged and urging speed. However, due to a misunderstanding, Jiang Yongdong, responsible for the first-phase platform, also assumed cautionary measures were complete and prematurely initiated the explosion, resulting in the tragic loss of lives.
